Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5: Console Mods, Dual Wielding & Switch 2 Timing

Updated October 23, 2026. Cyberpunk 2077 has received its free Update 2.5, the Edgerunners 2 Update, bringing console mod support, dual-wielding combat, new story missions and expanded character customization. There is an important platform distinction: the patch arrived on October 22 for PC, supported Mac storefronts, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to follow later.

Here is what changed, how to access the new content and what players should know before enabling mods.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5: release date and platforms

  • Available from October 22, 2026: Windows PC, Mac through Steam/GOG/Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Coming later: Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version. CD PROJEKT RED has not announced an exact day for those versions.
  • Price: Free for existing owners on supported platforms; this is a game update, not a paid expansion.
  • Xbox One and PS4: Do not expect this current-generation update on the legacy versions.

Check your platform's update screen and the official launch notice for the latest rollout status rather than assuming every edition updates at the same time.

Console mods arrive through mod.io — with an achievement warning

Update 2.5 introduces cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. A new in-game Mods panel lets players browse and install a supported selection of community creations without manually copying PC files. CD PROJEKT RED lists PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 among supported platforms, subject to the patch reaching each system.

Important: CD PROJEKT RED states that achievements and trophies cannot be earned while playing on a console from a modded save file. Modded saves are marked with a dedicated icon in the Load Game menu. If you are working toward trophies, keep an unmodded save and read the game's warnings before using the feature.

How to unlock dual-wielding pistols

The new Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree unlocks a dual-wielding playstyle for Power-category Pistols and Revolvers. Four additional perks expand that combat approach. It does not mean every gun type can be equipped in both hands: Smart and Tech weapons are not included in the announced Power-pistol-and-revolver feature.

Players who favor handguns now have a reason to revisit their Cool builds. Photo Mode also adds poses designed to showcase dual-wielding.

New Edgerunners 2 quest: how to start Clampdown

The Clampdown side quest ties directly into the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime and takes place before the show's events. To unlock it, complete The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for a message from her. The mission rewards a five-piece outfit inspired by the character King.

A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays music from the Edgerunners series. The update also adds the separate Welcome to Paradise! side quest: finish The Heist and reach Street Cred level 15 to unlock a Night City tour narrated by Richard Night.

Glamdocs, cyberware skins and new looks

Five new Glamdoc locations, identified by a spray-paint icon on the map, let players customize the appearance of arm cyberware including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. The update also brings new outfits, additional hairstyle options and vehicle cosmetic rewards.

For collectors who enjoy in-game photography, Photo Mode now includes Cyberpunk Trading Card Game-themed frames for creating card-like screenshots. These are digital photo decorations, not physical trading cards.

12 new tarot cards, console FOV and quality-of-life improvements

Explorers can discover 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards. Scanning one starts an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest, and collecting the full set earns a reward. Other improvements include:

  • A field-of-view (FOV) slider for console players.
  • Save files grouped by individual playthrough.
  • Filters for apartment and vehicle stashes.
  • DLSS 4.5 support and graphics improvements on compatible hardware.
  • Targeted fixes, including a Switch 2 save-space error and a PS5 HDR settings issue, as those platforms receive the relevant patch.

Xbox Play Anywhere is another notable change

Separately from the new gameplay content, Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere. According to the publisher's Xbox Wire post, an eligible digital purchase lets players access the game on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with progress carrying between those platforms. Check your edition and store entitlement; this does not mean the game is included with Game Pass.

Should you return to Night City?

For returning players, the biggest practical reasons are console mods, dual-wielding and two new quests. Achievement hunters should pay special attention to the modded-save restriction. Switch 2 owners should check for a platform-specific rollout announcement before looking for the new features.
