Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Hits Switch 2 October 6: Upgrades, Mouse Controls and Free Upgrade
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed arrives natively on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 6, 2026, bringing Purple Lamp's remake of Mickey Mouse's Wasteland adventure to Nintendo's newer hardware with upgraded presentation and controls.
For players deciding whether to buy the Switch 2 release—or upgrade an existing Switch copy—here are the key release details, enhancements and ownership rules to know.

What changes on Nintendo Switch 2?
THQ Nordic says the Switch 2 version features higher-resolution visuals and an improved frame rate compared with the original Switch release. It also supports mouse-style controls using the Joy-Con 2 controller, giving players another way to aim Mickey's paint and thinner.

Switch owners can upgrade for free
THQ Nordic has said owners of the Nintendo Switch version can receive the Switch 2 enhancements through a free upgrade patch. That applies to eligible digital owners and physical Switch cartridge owners.
For a physical copy, the Switch cartridge must be inserted into the Switch 2 while installing and using the upgraded version. Existing Switch save progress can continue when using the upgrade path, provided the save data is transferred to the Switch 2.
There is an important distinction: players who purchase the standalone Switch 2 version cannot directly use save files from the separate Switch version. Save continuity applies when upgrading the existing Switch product.
How does the Costume Pack DLC work?
The standalone Switch 2 release includes the Costume Pack. Players upgrading an original Switch copy only retain access to that DLC if they already own it on Switch. If you own only the base Switch game, the free upgrade adds the Switch 2 enhancements but does not automatically grant the separately purchased Switch Costume Pack.

What is Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake of the 2010 action-platformer originally envisioned by Warren Spector. Mickey explores Wasteland, a world populated by forgotten Disney characters, using a magical brush that can apply paint to restore parts of the environment or thinner to remove them and reveal alternate paths.
The remake adds modernized visuals and controls as well as movement abilities including dash, ground pound and sprinting. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and other classic Disney characters appear throughout the adventure.
Should existing Switch owners buy the Switch 2 version?
If you already own the Switch edition, the free upgrade path is the key detail: buying the standalone Switch 2 version is generally unnecessary solely to receive the new hardware enhancements. Players starting fresh can buy the native Switch 2 release, which includes the Costume Pack.
