Final Fantasy Resonance Launch Guide: Oct. 22, Demo, Prices & 26 Visions
Updated October 21, 2026. Final Fantasy Resonance launches October 22, 2026, bringing Square Enix's first HD-2D Final Fantasy to consoles and PC. The turn-based RPG rebuilds the opening story arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, with a tactical battle timeline, familiar heroes and a free demo with transferable save data.
Here is what players and collectors should know before launch.
Release date and platforms
- Release: October 22, 2026 (announced North American date).
- Consoles: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S.
- PC: Steam and Xbox on PC / Microsoft Store.
- Standard US suggested price: $49.99.

Free demo and save transfer
Square Enix released a free first-chapter demo for PS5, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The publisher estimates three to five hours of gameplay. Demo save data can carry over to the full game. For the smoothest transfer, keep the same platform and account and review the platform's instructions before deleting demo files.
What are the 26 Visions?
Visions are equipable essences of characters from earlier Final Fantasy games. According to PlayStation's October 20 preview, there are 26 Visions, including recognizable characters such as Cloud, Terra, Lightning, Zidane, Noctis and Sephiroth.
Visions grant abilities that can be learned and combined with other unlocked skills. The battle timeline shows upcoming actions, while stagger gauges reward careful timing. Powerful Vision-specific Resonance attacks become possible after stagger sequences. Espers are a separate summon system: Square Enix says they fight with your party for three turns, finishing with a special move.

Edition comparison and US prices

- Collector's Edition — $209.99: game, Digital Deluxe bonuses and physical collectibles including an artbook, soundtrack and an exclusive Final Fantasy Trading Card Game promotional card.
Collector caution: Some Square Enix storefronts also list a separate Collector's Goods Box. The FFTCG card is a collectible inclusion, not a guarantee of future resale value.

Three things to check before buying
- Try the demo. Test the combat and art style while keeping transferable progress.
- Verify the platform. Distinguish Switch from Switch 2 and digital from physical copies.
- Check the collector package. Confirm whether the game and FFTCG promo card are included.
