Mario Kart World European September Slipstream Is Live: Event ID, Dates, Rewards and How to Enter
Nintendo’s latest Mario Kart World competitive online event is underway in Europe this weekend. The European September Slipstream runs from 9:00 a.m. UK time on Saturday, September 26, through 9:00 p.m. UK time on Sunday, September 27, 2026, giving eligible Nintendo Switch 2 players a full weekend to build their rating.
The format is straightforward: every entrant begins at a 3,000 versus rating, then gains or loses rating based on race results. Players can race as much or as little as they want before the event closes and ratings lock.

- Starting rating: 3,000

How to join the September Slipstream
Nintendo has provided a four-digit event code, so eligible players can enter directly from the game rather than relying on normal matchmaking.
- Open Mario Kart World and select Online Play.
- Press the – Button and choose Search for an event.
- Enter Event ID 4245.
- Confirm the event details and join the competition.
Nintendo also allowed players to enter the code before the competition began to practice under the event rules. During the live window, however, the rating earned from actual event races is what matters.
Top 100 and character leaderboards
There is more at stake than a single overall ranking. Nintendo says it plans to publish the 100 highest-rated global players on the official event website roughly one week after the competition ends.
There will also be a special character leaderboard. The highest-ranked player for each character can appear on that list, creating another target for racers who may not finish inside the overall top 100. That means a strong specialist result with characters such as Toad, Waluigi or Cow can still earn recognition.
Complete eight races for 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points
Players do not need a top leaderboard finish to receive the participation reward. Nintendo says entrants who complete at least eight races during the event will receive 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points.
That eight-race threshold is worth remembering: simply entering the event is not enough to qualify for the points.
Who is eligible?
Despite the word “global” appearing in Nintendo’s description of the post-event top-100 list, this specific September Slipstream contest is a European event. Nintendo lists eligible residents in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Players outside those territories should not assume Event ID 4245 is an open worldwide tournament. Nintendo has run separate regional Mario Kart World competitions, including the September Mario Kart World Open for players in the Americas.
Why this event is useful for competitive Mario Kart players
The open-ended race count makes the Slipstream different from a short fixed-round tournament. Because ratings can rise or fall after every race, players have to decide whether continuing to queue is worth the risk once they establish a strong score.
The character leaderboard also gives the weekend a second competitive layer beyond the overall top 100. For players who already specialize in one driver, that can make character placement worth watching when Nintendo publishes the final results.
