Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny releases April 9, 2027. Wizards of the Coast unveiled new details October 10, 2026 for its supernatural Marvel crossover, including a brand-new story, revealed cards, Commander decks and collector-focused products.

Release date and prerelease

The worldwide release is Friday, April 9, 2027. According to the Wizards Play Network schedule, local-store prerelease events run April 2–8, 2027. Ask your local game store about event registration and available kits.

What is the story?

Wizards and Marvel created an original, dimension-spanning story involving the Darkhold. Dormammu and Hela use a page of the cursed book to tear open barriers between realities. Doctor Strange, Thor and other mystical Marvel characters face the consequences.

A companion Marvel comic written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly is planned for digital release in February 2027 and physical release in April 2027. It will explore the origin of a new character.

Which cards and characters have been revealed?

Early previews include The Darkhold, Hela, Mistress of Darkness, Rise from the Nether, Magik, Illyana Rasputin and Gargantos, the Endbringer. Magik's stepping disks feature in the announcement. More previews are expected; check the official card gallery for the latest confirmed cards.

What should collectors watch?
