MTG Reality Fracture Prerelease Guide: Dates, Sealed Deck Tips and Draft Archetypes
Magic: The Gathering’s Reality Fracture Prerelease begins September 25, 2026, giving players their first in-store chance to build and battle with the set before its worldwide October 2 release. Wizards of the Coast has now published the complete card gallery, Limited archetypes, tokens and official Prerelease guidance, so players can prepare without relying on early speculation.
Here are the dates, deck-building basics and set-specific details worth knowing before you sit down for your first Reality Fracture Sealed event.

Reality Fracture Prerelease dates
Wizards lists the Reality Fracture Prerelease window as September 25 through October 1, 2026. The tabletop set releases worldwide on October 2, 2026.
Prerelease is played as Sealed: instead of arriving with a constructed deck, each player opens a Prerelease Pack and builds a minimum 40-card deck from the cards they receive, with basic lands available from the store.
What is inside a Reality Fracture Prerelease Pack?
According to Wizards’ official Prerelease guide, each pack contains six Reality Fracture Play Boosters, one traditional foil rare or mythic rare promo card, a Spindown life counter and a deck box. The promo can be played in your Sealed deck.

Reality Fracture Play Boosters contain 14 Magic cards. Wizards also says every Play Booster contains at least one echoed pair: two versions of a character, with one representing the main Multiverse and the other a colorshifted Echoverse version.
The 10 Reality Fracture Limited archetypes
Wizards has identified a two-color theme for every color pair. These are useful signposts when deciding which cards in your pool actually work together:
- White-blue: Fatehold surveil aggro
- Blue-black: Theorix graveyard math
- Black-red: Stingerquill face burn
- Red-green: Konstrari mana ramp
- Green-white: Vigorbloom life gain
- White-black: Liliana’s attrition
- Blue-red: Chandra’s prowess
- Black-green: Garruk’s bestiary
- Red-white: Ajani’s army
- Green-blue: Jace’s mastery

These themes are guides, not requirements. In Sealed, card quality, removal, mana consistency and the depth of your pool matter more than forcing a named archetype.
A practical Sealed deck-building baseline
For a 40-card deck, Wizards’ Prerelease guidance recommends starting around 17 lands. A useful creature curve generally concentrates more cards in the two- through four-mana range rather than loading the deck with expensive finishers.

A sensible first build is 17 lands and 23 spells, with enough early creatures or interaction to avoid falling behind. Splashing a third color can be worthwhile for an exceptional card, but only when your fixing supports it.
Tokens and art cards: one collector detail to watch
Wizards revealed additional Reality Fracture collector information on September 18. Each Play Booster contains a non-foil double-sided token. Across Play Boosters there are 15 different full-art tokens and three emblems, appearing in different double-sided combinations.
Collector Boosters can instead contain a traditional foil double-sided token or an art card. Wizards says there are 54 art cards; an art card appears in 35% of Collector Boosters, while 5% contain a version with a gold-stamped artist signature or Planeswalker symbol.
There is also a printing note collectors should know. Wizards says the 4/4 white Angel token created by Ob Nixilis, the Ascended appears only in Reality Fracture Collector Boosters and later printings of the Multiverse Reforged Commander deck. Early printings of the Heartwood token also use the colorless artifact frame even though reminder text defines them as red and green artifacts.
What to do before September 25
- Review the complete Reality Fracture card gallery rather than trying to memorize every card.
- Learn the 10 two-color themes so synergy is easier to spot while building.
- Prioritize a stable mana base and a functional curve over flashy but inconsistent splashes.
- Bring sleeves, dice and counters; stores provide basic lands for deck building.
- Confirm your local store’s event time and registration requirements before traveling.
