Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Bundle Arrives October 29: What’s on the Game Card?

Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension arrives as a new physical game bundle on October 29, 2026. Nintendo reiterated the date on October 9. This is a game bundle, not a Switch 2 console bundle: the complete base adventure and the previously released Mega Dimension DLC are included on one game card.

What is included on the game card?

  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: The full Lumiose City adventure, enhanced for Switch 2 with improved resolution and smoother frame rates.
  • Mega Dimension DLC: An additional story involving Hoopa and the mysterious Hyperspace Lumiose.
  • 100 Ultra Balls: A Mystery Gift serial code included as a purchase bonus with the physical bundle.

The Pokémon Company confirms that the base game and DLC are both on the same physical card, so there is no need to buy the expansion separately when purchasing this edition.

Does it work on the original Nintendo Switch?

Yes. Nintendo says this particular Switch 2 Edition game card is playable on the original Nintendo Switch. When used on that console, it has the original Switch version's content and capabilities, without the enhanced Switch 2 graphics or performance.

What happens in Mega Dimension?

In the additional story, strange spatial distortions appear around Lumiose City. The Mythical Pokémon Hoopa can turn them into portals to Hyperspace Lumiose, where Team MZ encounters unusual Pokémon and new challenges.

Players work with Ansha, a donut maker, and Team MZ to explore the altered city. Berries can be used to make donuts that help during expeditions. Mega Dimension also features unusual Pokémon encounters and Mega Evolutions, including Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y.

Important: You must finish the main Pokémon Legends: Z-A story before playing through the Mega Dimension story. New players can start the base game immediately but cannot skip directly to the DLC campaign.

How to claim the 100 Ultra Balls bonus

The physical package includes a one-time serial code redeemable through the game's Mystery Gift feature. An internet connection and linked Nintendo Account are required; Nintendo Switch Online is not required. Mystery Gift unlocks after approximately one hour of play. Follow the redemption instructions included with the game.

Should existing players buy the bundle?

New to the game? This release provides the main game and expansion on a single physical card.

Already own Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition? You can purchase Mega Dimension separately instead of rebuying the full game. The bundle includes the same content as the separately purchased base game and DLC.

Playing on the original Switch? The card is compatible, but Switch 2 performance enhancements require Switch 2 hardware.
