Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration: Release Date, ETB Details & Collector Highlights

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration is almost here. The special expansion is scheduled to launch worldwide on September 16, 2026, giving collectors a set built around Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and three decades of Trading Card Game history.

From an all-foil card lineup to 30 different Pikachu illustrations, a new rarity, and multiple Elite Trainer Box configurations, there is a lot to know before release day.

Release date and what makes 30th Celebration different

The Pokémon Company says Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration releases worldwide on September 16, 2026. It is also being positioned as the first Pokémon TCG expansion to receive a simultaneous global release.

The set leans heavily into the anniversary theme. Every card in the expansion is foil, including Basic Energy cards, and the product lineup is designed around both opening packs and collecting sealed anniversary items.

Thirty different Pikachu cards are part of the chase

One of the biggest hooks is Pikachu. Each 30th Celebration booster pack includes five foil cards, including one of 30 different Pikachu cards with unique illustrations, plus one foil Basic Energy card.

That means Pikachu is not simply one chase card in the set—the anniversary gives collectors an entire 30-card Pikachu subset to pursue.

Mewtwo, Mew and the new Futuristic rare rarity

30th Celebration also introduces a new rarity called Futuristic rare. Pokémon has highlighted Mewtwo and Mew cards featuring artwork by YOSHIROTTEN as examples of the new treatment.

The set will also include illustration rares and returning cards inspired by earlier eras of the Pokémon TCG. Collectors should note that reprinted cards do not automatically become Standard-legal; legality depends on the current format and the original card’s eligibility.

30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box details

For sealed collectors, the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box will be one of the most recognizable products in the September lineup.

The standard ETB is listed with:

  • 9 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs
  • 1 full-art Nidorina promo card
  • 65 card sleeves
  • 16 foil Basic Energy cards
  • Damage-counter dice and a coin-flip die
  • A plastic coin
  • A sturdy collector’s box with six dividers
  • A player’s guide to the expansion

The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is listed with 11 booster packs and two full-art Nidorina promo cards, including one stamped with the Pokémon Center logo.

Sealed collectors: because packaging dimensions can vary between releases and editions, verify the final box dimensions before buying any protector specifically for this ETB.

Other 30th Celebration products

The anniversary rollout extends well beyond the ETB. Pokémon has announced products across September, October, and November.

  • September: 2-Pack Blister, Knock Out Collection, Binder Collection, Poster Collection, and Sylveon ex / Greninja ex box products.
  • October: Booster Bundle, Mini Tins, and Battle Decks.
  • November: Ditto Premium Collection, Ultra-Premium Day & Night, and the Mew & Mewtwo Figure Collection.

The staggered schedule means collectors who miss one launch will still have additional 30th Celebration products arriving later in the fall.

Lugia and Ho-Oh bring more anniversary nostalgia

Pokémon has also previewed Lugia and Ho-Oh cards for the expansion. The Lugia artwork is credited to Kazuki Minami, while Ho-Oh is illustrated by Anesaki Dynamic.

Those previews reinforce the set’s broader approach: celebrate familiar Pokémon and memorable eras while giving the anniversary products new artwork and treatments.

What collectors should watch on launch week

  • Know which ETB you are buying. The standard and Pokémon Center editions have different pack counts and promo-card configurations.
  • Check sealed condition immediately. Inspect shrink wrap, corners, seams, and dents when your order arrives.
  • Do not assume every reprint is tournament legal. Check the current Pokémon TCG format before building a deck around a returning card.
  • Expect a staggered product rollout. Several major 30th Celebration products are scheduled for October and November rather than September.
