Pokémon TCG Live’s 30th Celebration Update Adds Missions, Free Mew ex Deck and a New Battle Board

Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration is not limited to physical booster packs. Pokémon TCG Live has received a substantial 30th Celebration update that changes both collecting and battling inside the digital card game.

The headline additions are a new Missions system for collection progress, a redesigned stadium-style Battle Board, and a 30th Celebration Battle Pass featuring decks built around Mew ex and Sylveon ex.

30th Celebration is now playable in Pokémon TCG Live

The Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration expansion arrived in Pokémon TCG Live on September 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PT, one day before the physical expansion’s September 16 worldwide launch. Booster packs and bundles are available through the in-game Shop, and code cards from physical 30th Celebration products can also be redeemed.

Pokémon says cards from the expansion can be played in all game modes. Players interested in sanctioned tabletop competition should still check the current Play! Pokémon legality rules separately, because digital availability and tournament legality are not the same thing.

Missions turn collecting into a reward track

The most important long-term addition may be Missions. Instead of collection completion being only a personal goal, Pokémon TCG Live can now reward players for completing defined collecting objectives.

30th Celebration launches with 12 Missions ranging from Easy through Extra Hard. Rewards can include in-game currency, booster packs and deck accessories.

The system is also retroactive. Supported older expansions from Black & White through Mega Evolution—Pitch Black receive at least two collection objectives:

  • Complete the Main Set
  • Complete the Master Set

That makes the update particularly relevant to longtime players. Cards already sitting in a digital collection can contribute toward Mission progress rather than forcing everyone to begin from zero.

The Battle Pass starts with a free Mew ex deck

Players begin the 30th Celebration Battle Pass with a new Mew ex deck. Progressing through the pass unlocks booster packs, Collector Crates, Trainer Points, Trade Credits, cosmetics and additional cards that can be used to improve the deck.

At the halfway point, the Battle Pass unlocks a second deck centered on Sylveon ex, with more upgrade cards available through continued progression.

The two decks approach battles differently. Mew ex’s Memory Helix Ability lets it use attacks from Benched Pokémon when the necessary Energy is attached, creating a flexible toolbox strategy. Sylveon ex instead rewards building around multiple Basic Energy types with Colorful Harmony.

A redesigned Battle Board brings matches closer to tabletop play

The update also introduces Pokémon TCG Live’s next-generation Battle Board. Pokémon describes the new environment as a full stadium, with a layout designed to better reflect real-world Pokémon TCG play when using landscape mode on desktop and tablet.

Camera positioning and card presentation have been adjusted for readability, while the 30th Celebration campaign adds temporary Day and Night visual themes. Stadium crowd audio can react to the action during matches, although players can adjust audio and visual effects in the settings.

Why the Missions system matters beyond the anniversary

The 30th Celebration content is timely, but Missions are the part of this update with the biggest potential impact after the anniversary ends. Pokémon says older supported expansions are receiving Missions and future expansions will continue to add them.

That gives digital collectors a clearer reason to finish sets instead of treating duplicate pulls and collection percentages as passive statistics. It also connects two sides of the hobby that do not always overlap: competitive players who primarily build decks and collectors who enjoy completing sets.

For returning players, the best first move is simple: open the Missions section before spending resources. Existing collection progress may already satisfy or nearly satisfy objectives from older expansions.

What to do first

  • Log in and claim the Mew ex Battle Pass deck.
  • Review your 30th Celebration Missions before opening or crafting additional cards.
  • Check older expansions to see which Main Set or Master Set Missions are already close to completion.
  • Try the redesigned Battle Board and adjust crowd audio or visual effects if needed.
  • Work toward the Sylveon ex deck at the midpoint of the Battle Pass.

The physical Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration expansion launched worldwide on September 16, but this digital update gives players another way to participate even when retail product is difficult to find.
