Pokémon TCG Mewtwo Promo: How to Get the 30th Celebration Card Starting October 2
Pokémon TCG collectors have another date to circle after the launch of Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration. Beginning October 2, 2026, a special Mewtwo card will be offered as a gift with purchase at participating retailers in the United States, Canada, and Oceania while supplies last.
The promotion is straightforward, but it is separate from the September 16 worldwide release of the 30th Celebration expansion. Here is what collectors need to know before heading to a store or placing an online order.
How to get the 30th Celebration Mewtwo promo
Starting October 2, shoppers who spend $15 or more on Pokémon TCG products at a participating retailer can receive the Mewtwo promo card. Pokémon says the offer is valid both in store and online and is available only while supplies last.
In the United States, the announced participating retailers are:
- GameStop
- Best Buy
- Hot Topic
- Five Below
- Barnes & Noble
- Macy’s
- BoxLunch
Canada’s participating retailer is EB Games. In Oceania, the announced list includes EB Games Australia, JB Hi-Fi, BIG W, Toymate, and Mr Toys.

What makes this Mewtwo card different?
The card features Mewtwo and carries both the Pokémon 30 branding and the “What’s Your Favorite?” logo. That distinguishes this retail-distribution version from a normal card pulled from a booster pack.
The promo also comes with a separate QR-code card directing fans to information about the Pokémon Night Out experience.
Because the offer is explicitly limited to available supplies, collectors should not assume every participating location will have stock for the same length of time. If you are buying online, check the retailer’s promotion terms before checkout rather than assuming the bonus card will automatically be included.

30th Celebration launches before the promo begins
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration launches worldwide on September 16, 2026. The anniversary expansion celebrates three decades of Pokémon and the Pokémon Trading Card Game with new artwork, returning classic cards, and a major Pikachu collecting theme.
Pokémon says every 30th Celebration booster contains five foil cards, including one of 30 different Pikachu cards with unique artwork, plus a foil Basic Energy card.
That means collectors have two separate dates to keep straight:
- September 16, 2026: Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration worldwide release.
- October 2, 2026: Mewtwo gift-with-purchase promotion begins at participating retailers.
A practical collector strategy
If you already plan to buy Pokémon TCG products in early October, it may make sense to time at least one qualifying purchase for October 2 or later. The $15 threshold is relatively accessible, and Pokémon has named several national U.S. retailers rather than limiting the card to a single chain.
Still, avoid treating the promotion as guaranteed inventory. “While supplies last” means individual stores or online fulfillment channels can run out. Calling a local store before making a special trip may save time.
Bottom line
The 30th Celebration Mewtwo promotion gives collectors a second major date shortly after the anniversary set launches. Spend at least $15 on Pokémon TCG products at a participating retailer beginning October 2, and the special Mewtwo card is available as a gift with purchase while supplies last.
