Pokémon UNITE Shutting Down March 2027: Save Your Library Before Servers Close

Pokémon UNITE will shut down March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, The Pokémon Company has confirmed. The closure affects Nintendo Switch and iOS/Android. Players will no longer be able to log in or battle after the deadline, but a planned Library feature will preserve selected in-game memories if its required data is downloaded before service ends.

Here's the confirmed shutdown timeline, what happens to Aeos gems and UNITE Club, and the final competitive event schedule.

Pokémon UNITE shutdown date and U.S. time

  • Global shutdown: Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.
  • Central U.S.: Monday, March 22, 2027, at 7 p.m. CDT.
  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
  • After shutdown: No game login or battles; previously downloaded Library data remains viewable.

Pokémon's official end-of-service announcement confirms the date and affected platforms. Pokémon UNITE originally launched on Nintendo Switch in July 2021, followed by mobile in September 2021.

What happens to Aeos gems and UNITE Club?

Aeos gem sales stopped October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC. Existing gems can still be used until the March 2027 shutdown. The publisher has not said that unused gems will transfer to another Pokémon game.

New UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals also stopped October 27. Current members can continue using their benefits until their existing membership period expires. For individual payment questions, consult Pokémon Support; the shutdown notice does not announce a general refund program.

November 12 update adds a Library and farewell rewards

Pokémon plans a special update on November 12, 2026, at 04:00 UTC (November 11 at 10 p.m. Central Standard Time). The event will offer Unite coins through login bonuses and missions. Players can exchange them for previously released items, including Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion and snapshot items.

The new Library will let players revisit selected owned content and records even after the servers close. Planned features include a Practice Area, Holowear, Unite licenses, fashion, emblems, Trainer and Pokémon achievements, and tournament participation records. It will not restore online battles.

Download the Library data before March 23

Pokémon says the Library's required assets will download when players use the game after the November update or first access the feature. Complete the initial download before March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Without it, the Library cannot be accessed after shutdown.

The company also warns that Library data generally cannot be transferred to a new device. Deleted or lost data may not be recoverable, and Library support ends with the online service. Read the official Library announcement for all limitations.

Will the Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament still happen?

Yes. The Pokémon Company says the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo event will proceed, with qualifier tournaments starting December 5, 2026. This is separate from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, which will not feature UNITE.

An earlier Championship Series announcement described a tentative Tokyo final in late March 2027 with up to 32 teams. The newer shutdown announcement does not provide an exact final date. Competitors should check official event updates for confirmed regulations, eligibility and match schedules.

Player checklist before the shutdown

  • Spend any existing Aeos gems before service ends; new gem purchases are unavailable.
  • Check the end date of your current UNITE Club benefits.
  • Return after November 12 to try the farewell Unite Coin Exchange.
  • Verify that the Library's initial data download finishes before March 23, 2027.
  • Keep your device and local Library data safe; transfers and recovery are not guaranteed.
  • Competitive players: watch Aeos Crown qualifiers starting December 5.

Bottom line: Pokémon UNITE's online service ends March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The key preservation step is downloading Library data before the servers close.
