SULFUR 1.0 Is Out Oct. 28: Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, Price & New Features

Updated October 28, 2026: SULFUR has officially reached version 1.0 after two years in Steam Early Access. Developer Perfect Random says the first-person roguelike shooter is now launching on PC and six console platforms, with completed story progression, expanded enchantments and a new quest log.

The studio's October 28 launch announcement confirms the release and includes the 1.0 patch notes. Here is what players should know before buying or returning.

SULFUR 1.0 release date and platforms

The full release date is Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Perfect Random lists these platforms for the simultaneous launch:

  • PC via Steam
  • Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
  • PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S

SULFUR entered PC Early Access on October 28, 2024. The developer's announcement does not establish one universal worldwide unlock hour; check the storefront in your region.

What's new in the 1.0 update?

Version 1.0 finishes the core progression while adding systems and polish for existing players. According to the developer, major changes include:

  • Complete story progression: the base adventure can be played from beginning to end.
  • Finished enchantment system: the combined-magic matrix is complete, including five new combinations such as Snowman Head, Water Bomb and Teslacold.
  • Quest log: active objectives can now be tracked from the inventory.
  • Combat changes: new weapon oils can counter bullet drop, and melee attacks gain a brief hit-stop effect.
  • Polish: balancing, interface, performance and quality-of-life changes across the game.

The full game contains more than 60 firearms, weapon customization, cooking, loot, bosses and risk-reward equipment choices. Those are total game features—not a claim that 60 new guns were added today.

SULFUR price: What changed at launch?

Perfect Random announced a US base-price increase from $24.99 to $29.99 as Early Access ended, with proportional regional adjustments. Storefront prices, promotions and local taxes may vary, so verify the final amount at checkout rather than relying on older Early Access listings.

The Steam store page also lists a downloadable demo for players who want to test the game's combat and distinctive art style.

Does SULFUR 1.0 have multiplayer?

No. SULFUR 1.0 is single-player. Perfect Random explicitly ruled out a surprise multiplayer launch and said it hopes to work on multiplayer as a future update. There is no announced multiplayer release date, so don't purchase expecting immediate co-op.

What should new players know?

SULFUR rewards preparation as much as aiming. Weapons, gear, cooking ingredients and enchantments shape your build, while equipment brought into a dangerous run can be lost. Its roguelike progression and inventory decisions are central to the experience.

The studio reported more than 500,000 copies sold during Early Access in an October 20 update. Free post-launch updates are planned, while potential DLC remains exploratory rather than formally announced.
