Zelda 40th Anniversary: Ocarina of Time Remake, Switch 2 Console and Collector Details

Nintendo is celebrating four decades of The Legend of Zelda with new hardware, collectibles and a rebuilt version of one of the series’ most influential games. For collectors, the biggest dates are October 29 and November 5, 2026.

Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 arrives October 29

The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition launches October 29. Nintendo is also releasing anniversary versions of the Switch 2 Pro Controller and a carrying case with screen protector, all featuring Zelda-themed designs.

Ocarina of Time returns November 5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5. Nintendo says the classic has been rebuilt with overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, faster loading and modernized movement and camera controls.

The remake also adds new features such as Threads of Time for tracking story progress and microphone support that lets players hum learned melodies for Link to perform on his ocarina.

The physical first print is aimed directly at collectors

Nintendo says the first print run of the physical edition will use special packaging with textured foil cover art while supplies last. That makes the launch printing particularly notable for collectors who prefer physical games and distinctive packaging.

  • October 29: Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 hardware and accessories launch.
  • November 5: Ocarina of Time launches for Switch 2.
  • First physical print: Textured foil cover art while supplies last.
  • 2027: New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are planned.

ZELDA NOTES is expanding too

Nintendo is adding Ocarina of Time support to ZELDA NOTES in the Nintendo Switch App. Features include daily activity records, location-based Gossip Quests, a virtual ocarina and a quiz containing more than 2,000 questions.

Nintendo is also extending the anniversary into 2027 with a worldwide concert series and additional collectibles and collaborations.
